30 Years of Turkey Farming

Home / 30 Years of Turkey Farming

We are celebrating 30 years in business. Now in our third generation of turkey farmers, we’ve been operating from Balsall Common since 1989.

Our business was started by Leslie and Bruce Pinckney in 1956 when they had seen turkeys being raised in New Zealand after a trip to see family. 25 turkeys were reared the first year in a stable.  It was continued on by Mike and Judith Adlington into the new millennium. The Christmas turkeys and Adlington Ltd are now run as two separate enterprises due to the differing business demands but still run by Rod Adlington and his wife Anna with help from their children Toby, Lily and Monty, with a very fit Mike and Judith still ably assisting the turkey rearing even though they are both in their 80s. Apparently the work keeps them young! Adlington Ltd now focuses on the cooking and smoking of British poultry, whilst promoting and developing our chicken brand, Label Anglais, also called Adlington Free range chicken.

For three generations we are proud to have been providing exemplary products for the British fine food market. Shops we supply include some of our near neighbours including Oakes Farm Shop in Balsall Common, Lyons in Knowle, and Berryfields in Meriden as well as the London food halls, and Wholefoods in Kensington. We deliver all over the UK, and possibly soon to the UAE and Dubai, we are very much a local product. Food and bedding are sourced from Burmans the farmer in Beausale and Minshull and Beaties farming operations in Meriden and Balsall Common. Our employees all live within 5 miles of Balsall Common. We’re currently very busy preparing for Christmas and taking care of 9000 turkeys. You can order them any time between now and 20th December via our Christmas shopYou can keep up to date with all of our latest news and job vacancies on Facebook and Instagram
